GROUND-BREAKING RESEARCH EXPLORES BOREDOM AND LIFELESSNESS IN THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
New Book by Texas Author is Published
(Austin, Texas, May 5, 2007)- Bob Kalka, an author published by iUniverse, Inc., the leading provider of publishing technology solutions, announced today the availability of his new book, The Emotionally Authentic Christian.
This book, based on more than sixteen years of research with Dr. Gary Gemmill, a world-renowned expert on group psychodynamics and leadership, provides a detailed analysis on how the passion, creativity and unity within Christian churches is being attacked by a lack of authenticity within its individual members.
Claire Short, a therapist and author from the United Kingdom, notes, "Bob Kalka sensitively speaks to and confronts the norms in modern spirituality that discourage us from being real with each other."
As Christians commonly use things and people - including the church itself - to avoid being 'real' in their Christian journey, the result is a 'fake' sense of passion, creativity, wholeness and unity that is over time experienced within the church as boredom and lifelessness, and outside the church as hypocrisy.
Dan Bonner, Vice-President of Wesleyan Homes in Georgetown, Texas says, "In this book, Bob Kalka provides an insightful guide for creating and sustaining real Christian discipleship and fellowship without leaving your brains behind."
The Emotionally Authentic Christian provides a series of pointed case studies to emphasize the common sources and forms of this authenticity deficit, along with a realistic process supported by both research and extensive biblical referencing on how to confidently address the problem.
The Emotionally Authentic Christian also provides a fresh perspective on the widespread controversy around the "Prosperity Gospel" that some modern Christian churches promote today.
Bob Kalka notes, "While a materialistic interpretation of the 'Prosperity Gospel' has been subject to intense debate, The Emotionally Authentic Christian sheds lights on a simple form of prosperity - specifically, an increasing opportunity to share the same type of love and compassion that God shares with us, which is made possible as individual and collective authenticity is pursued."
